Key Takeaways

  • I have worked on more than 100 documentary episodes across 6 series for Greek television: 1821, From Small to Big, Parallel Lives, Memories of Joy, Portraits and Testimonies.
  • My roles range from director and co-director to director of photography and editor, often more than one on the same series.
  • I co-directed all 13 episodes of the ERT series 1821, The Greek War of Independence.
  • I have also directed, produced and edited stand-alone documentaries for regions, foundations and Parliament TV, and I co-created the YouTube channel Ancient Greece Revisited.

Documentary Work: Series and Films

Documentaries are where I learned my craft. Over 20 years I have worked on more than 100 documentary episodes across 6 series for Greek television, most of them about history and culture, and on documentary films for regions, foundations and Parliament TV. On some I directed, on others I was behind the camera or in the edit, and often I did more than one of these on the same series.

Documentary films

Beyond television

With Michael Michailidis I co-created Ancient Greece Revisited, an educational YouTube channel that tells ancient Greek stories for a modern audience through short documentaries.

Working with me on a documentary

I can direct, film or edit your documentary, or take it from research to the final cut. Every project starts with the story: what it is about, who can tell it, and what archive, places and documents will carry it. I work in English and Greek, for Greek and international productions.

Through his director's eye and his exceptional skill in editing, Mr Petritsis brought out our precious exhibits with rare care and deep respect for the museum's character and history. He presented the objects, their themes and the history around them in a way that was clear, easy to follow and aesthetically complete, captivating both our visitors and our online audience. He always delivered strictly on schedule.
